I was raised by a single mother in Alaska, who founded and ran a nonprofit with resources and training for other single parents. 20 years later, I was the Marketing Director for a nonprofit in Hawai’i with a million dollar budget. I now sit on the boards of multiple nonprofits.
My philosophy on running effective nonprofits is to treat them as you would a business. You started because you have a passion and are making the world a better place. You can reach higher potential by adapting business principles when it comes to cash flow, marketing and sustainability.

Sustainability Planning is one of the most vital parts of the success of a nonprofit in the long term, but often also the most overlooked.
A sustainability plan consists of not only a marketing plan, but details on board selection, operations planning and finding a signature campaign or program to help generate revenue.

Partnership + Networking: Creating strategic partnerships within the community can not only support and exponentially magnify marketing efforts, but create brand awareness, provide critical education to the public and assist in procuring other funding.
